CookiePolicy
A small number of cookies keep Mtschat working and help us improve it. Here is what they are and how to switch the optional ones off.
The short version. We use strictly necessary cookies to sign you in and keep the Service secure, preference cookies to remember your choices, and analytics cookies to understand how our site is used. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data collected through cookies. Optional cookies are used only where you allow them, and you can change your mind at any time.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They let the site recognise your browser on later requests — for example, to keep you signed in as you move between pages.
Cookies set by the site you are visiting are “first-party” cookies; cookies set by another domain are “third-party” cookies. Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser (“session” cookies), while others remain until they expire or you delete them (“persistent” cookies).
This policy also covers similar technologies, such as local storage, session storage and pixels, which we refer to collectively as “cookies”.
2. How we use cookies
Mtschat, a company based in Singapore, uses cookies on mtschat.com and in the Mtschat web app (together, the “Service”) to:
- sign you in and keep your session secure;
- protect against fraud, abuse and cross-site request forgery;
- remember settings such as your workspace, language and display choices; and
- understand, in aggregate, how people find and use our website so we can improve it.
Personal data collected through cookies is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
3. Categories we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential for the Service to work. They authenticate you after you sign in, maintain your session, balance load across our servers, protect forms against forgery, and record your cookie choices. Because the Service cannot function without them, they do not require consent and cannot be switched off in our settings. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the Service, including signing in, will then stop working.
Preferences
Preference cookies remember choices you make — for example, the last workspace you opened, your language, interface layout, or whether you have dismissed a notice — so you do not have to set them again on each visit. They are not used to track you across other sites. Where the law requires consent, we set them only after you allow them.
Analytics
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website and app: which pages are viewed, how people arrive, how long they stay, and where errors occur. We use this information in aggregate to improve content and fix problems. We configure analytics to minimise the data collected, for example by truncating IP addresses where the tool supports it, and we do not use analytics data to build advertising profiles. Analytics cookies are optional and are set only with your consent where the law requires it.
What we do not use
We do not use advertising, retargeting or social-media tracking cookies on mtschat.com, and we do not allow third parties to use our site to track you across other websites for advertising purposes.
4. Third parties
Some features of our website rely on services provided by other companies, which may receive limited technical information when your browser connects to them.
- Google Fonts. Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and standard request information such as your browser type. According to Google, Google Fonts does not set cookies or use these requests to build advertising profiles. Google’s handling of this data is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
- Analytics providers. If you allow analytics cookies, our analytics provider processes usage data on our behalf as a processor, under contract.
- Meta. When you connect an Instagram account, you sign in through Meta’s own login pages. Meta may set its own cookies on its domains during that process; these are governed by Meta’s cookie and privacy policies, not ours.
- Payment processor. When you enter payment details, our payment processor may set cookies needed to process the payment securely and prevent fraud.
We do not control cookies set by third parties on their own domains. Please see their policies for details. Mtschat is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or Instagram.
5. How to control cookies
Our cookie settings
Where the law requires consent, we ask for it before setting preference or analytics cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through our cookie banner or cookie settings, where shown, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.
Your browser
Most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies, either for all sites or for specific ones. Look for the privacy or security section of your browser’s settings — for example, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. If you block all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, you will not be able to sign in to the Service.
Global Privacy Control
Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal sent by your browser as a request to opt out of optional cookies for that browser.
Opting out of analytics
Declining analytics cookies in our cookie settings stops our analytics from running in your browser. Some analytics providers also offer their own browser opt-out tools.
6. How long cookies last
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Authentication cookies last for the length of your signed-in session, and up to 30 days if you choose to stay signed in.
- Preference and consent cookies generally last up to 12 months.
- Analytics cookies generally last up to 13 months.
You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
7. Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or when the law changes. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed. If we introduce a new category of optional cookie, we will ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
8. Contact us
If you have questions about our use of cookies, email privacy@mtschat.com or use our contact page.
